Editorial standards

Effective 29 October 2026

Our reporting should be accurate, fairly presented and open to correction.

Verification and attribution

Check significant claims against original documents, authoritative sources or reliable reporting. Link supporting sources where possible. Distinguish confirmed facts, allegations, estimates and forecasts. Do not imply interviews or document access that TNN did not conduct or obtain.

Fairness and context

Represent material responses and denials prominently. Seek comment where appropriate, and identify when a response was not received. A reported allegation is not a finding of guilt.

Editorial independence and commercial work

Advertising and sponsorship must be labelled. Commercial relationships must not be presented as independent reporting. Disclose relevant conflicts of interest and separate sponsored production briefs from newsroom decisions.

Images and video

Use images with permission or an appropriate licence and credit the source. Identify illustrations, archive footage and materially altered or synthetic images. Do not remove another publisher’s branding to imply ownership.

AI assistance

AI may assist with drafting, editing or production. TNN remains responsible for verification and publication. AI output is not evidence. Materially synthetic visual or audio content must be identified.

Dates and corrections

Show original publication dates and meaningful updates. Archived articles describe information available at the time. Significant factual corrections should be explained in a dated note. Our corrections process.
